Stephen McGown is the longest held surviving Al Qaeda hostage in the world.
Stephen McGown views himself as a normal person and says that if he was able to get through this, then everybody is able to overcome their challenges.
“We all have what is needed to overcome adversity within us”.
However life is to be lived and should be enjoyed, he learnt many amazing things while in captivity and made the most of his time in the Sahara.
Stephen McGown feels be came out a better person with many unusual stories, “If they weren’t going to kill me, I should use this time to grow and go home a better person back to my family”.
Stephen McGown wants people to understand that life should not be taken too seriously and there is always place to smile and laugh, as this is what keeps us going.
